"ZUIDERDAM II"
Holland America Line
In
view of the new ships’ commercial success, Holland America Line
decides to order five new ships from the Italian Fincantieri yard.
The
ocean going vessels of this so-called ‘Vistas series’ are
no less than 25 % bigger than the earlier ships. The Zuiderdam is the
first ship to be delivered in this series.
The
Dining Room is the setting for a number of impressionist paintings by
Ben Rikken and Edlef Romeny and the realist still-lives by Kenne Gregoire.
New are the art objects for the Panoramic Elevators: these glass elevators
travel up and down along deep sea tableaux of whales by the Croatian painter,
Milan Rubelli.
