m/s "ROTTERDAM VI"
Holland America Line

Commissions for Holland America Line ships gradually start to include new locations. For the new flagship Rotterdam, eleven artists are commissioned.

The Englishman, Ian Cairnie, paints a panel 275" long by 79" high, for placement in the Explorer’s Lounge, depicting a view of Amsterdam and its port in the 18th century. The Frisian restorer/painter, Klaas Posthuma, makes a monumental mural for the Dining Room, inspired by a 1958 painting decorating the Ritz-Carlton restaurant on board the Rotterdam V.

Three renowned Dutch painters/watercolorists are asked to make a series of works for limited edition reproductions to be placed in the cabins. Water colorist, Gerrit Neven, produces 36 original watercolors for the Suites.

Testimonial
Ian Cairnie, Artist

I think Erik’s obvious passion and enthusiasm for a great range of art has been the motivation for all the things he has achieved with Enterprise & Art. I’ve always been impressed by the professionalism combined with a sense of fun and adventure that he has engendered in his organization, plus the lengths Enterprise & Art go to in their attention to detail, and in producing their stunning presentations. Unstinting! And he has the best looking staff in Amsterdam!
