Teutonic Order
Bailiwick of Utrecht

The archive of the Order of Germanic Knights in Utrecht is among the most ancient in this country.

The archive is frequently consulted by historians and others with a special interest. Especially the archive’s quartering lists, showing the genealogy of each Knight, are requested regularly.

Given the vulnerability of these documents, Alexander Plas of Enterprise & Art takes the initiative, in 2001, to digitalize this portion of the archive.

All of the 316 quartering lists are inventoried in a database, photographed on wide screen slides, and scanned at high resolution for printing purposes. As a result, it is no longer necessary to remove the original quartering lists from their airconditioned surroundings.
