23 corporate collections in text and image
Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam 1988

Enterprise & Art assembles, in 1988, in the Beurs
van Berlage in Amsterdam 360 objects from art collections made available by 23 Dutch companies.

This is the very first project of (then Foundation) Enterprise & Art. Her Majesty Queen Beatrix graciously consents to attend the official opening ceremony on 6 December. For the first time, the Dutch general public gets an opportunity to learn at a public venue of the motivations and preferences of Dutch companies in their capacity as collectors of art.

At the time the exhibition causes fierce debate about the notion of maintaining corporate collections. Erik Hermida, Liesbeth Hemelrijk, and Macha Roesink are the organizers and responsible for compiling the catalogue. A limited amount of catalogues are still available in our webshop.

Mrs. Reinilde Hammacher introduces Her Majesty Queen Beatrix to the works from the Peter Stuyvesant Foundation
collection displayed, as they are in the Zevenaar plant, on suspended panels.

Hoofdconservator ING Collectie

On August 19th, 1987, over 15 years ago, I met Erik Hermida. I think Erik found me rather outspoken. Later he proved to be at least as outspoken, a good foundation for a strong cooperation and friendship. What Erik organized on December 6th, 1988, completely broke with Dutch parochialism. Completely different companies and art collections representing various
movements were shown together in the
Beurs van Berlage. I fondly remember all events, exhibitions and publications. On behalf of the art department I would like to wish Erik and his team lots of success in the future.
