The Integrated Art Collection
Symposium

ING Bank, Amsterdam 1997

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, Enterprise & Art organizes in 1997, in collaboration with ING Group and Noordman Organisatieadviesburo, a symposium at the ING Bank head office in Amsterdam Zuidoost: The Integrated Art Collection; The future role of the art collection in communication policy.

Apart from Sacha Tanja, Chief Curator of the ING collection, speakers are: Rosemary Harris, Curator of the NatWest Group Art Collection of London, Grazia Quaroni, Assistant Curator of the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain of Paris, Maria de Corral, Director of the Coleccíon de Arte Contemporáneo, Fundación "La Caixa" of Barcelona, and Paul Mertz, communication consultant based in Amsterdam. Topic of the symposium is the role of art collections in corporate communication. Companies go about differently. Where the Dutch ING Bank and the English NatWest Bank collections are regularly used by the respective communication departments, the French Fondation Cartier and the Spanish La Caixa Bank collections are completely autonomous, in the sense that they exclusively serve as a medium to project the corporate image. During this symposium, attended by consultants, curators and members of corporate art committees as well as others interested in the topic, the benefits and drawbacks of both schools of thought are subject of a lively discussion.
