m/s "AMSTERDAM III"
Holland America Line

The Amsterdam, completed in 2000, is listed as sister ship to the Rotterdam built in 1997. For this ship too, Enterprise & Art seeks artists who deliver high quality work in the Dutch painting tradition. Cornelis Lemair, who paints a series of traditional still-lives for the Dining Room, is such an artist. As is Bas Sebus, whose fantasy landscapes for the Odyssey Restaurant are an ode to artists such as Johannes Vermeer. The Puzzle Area, on this occasion, is the site of two magnificent ‘panorama boxes’ by Peter Gabriëlse. The monumental painting in the Explorer’s Lounge is a masterpiece
by Friesland born artist, Peter Sterkenburg, who sadly dies shortly before completing this panel. Restorer Harmen Duyvis of De Roo & Sainthill, therefore finalizes the painting.
