Amstel Bier Friendship Print

Amstel Bier is principal sponsor of the annual speed-cycle event, the Amstel Gold Race. To bring to this event some extra public attention, the company’s PR department comes up in 1997 with the Friendship Print; a graphic art work awarded by one speed-cycle celebrity to another in a column of the monthly Wielersport magazine. Enterprise & Art proposes to invite graphic artist, Tom Thijsse, to make this Friendship Print. He feels significant affinity with the topic, being an ardent amateur speed-cyclist himself. Thijsse designs and makes the Friendship Print and offers the first one to writer Tim Krabbé, another cycle lover. The faux Latin text on the print reads: birota vehi amicitia, which means as much as: cycling is friendship.
